One of the most common questions I get from clients, friends, and readers is how to satisfy a demanding sweet tooth without completely "falling off the wagon". Believe me, I get it. I love my sweets. It's something I look forward to each day, and if someone tried to tell me I couldn't have it, I'd feel deprived and restricted, and I'd want it that much more. Then I'd probably overdo it, and feel a little guilty for going overboard. So it's important to quit the deprivation and restriction, and figure out how to indulge consciously, mindfully, and guiltlessly! Delicious sweets are supposed to make you feel satisfied and happy, after all. Here's my 5 tips to make it happen.
I've been getting so many emails and messages on instagram lately about places to dine in San Diego, so I figured it was time to share a little guide to all my favorite restaurants! When I moved back to San Diego from LA last year, I knew I'd seriously miss my go-to spots and all the variety that LA had to offer. But I have to say, we're pretty lucky here with a ton of awesome options (tons of healthy ones and lots of amazing spots for your weekend treat meals), and it's super exciting to see some of my favorite LA restaurants making their way down here too! I'll make sure to keep this list current and updated as I continue discovering all the local gems, but definitely follow along on my instagram story highlights ("SD spots") too so you can see the latest and greatest and learn some little tips for ordering healthy meals!
Brunch is 100% my favorite meal. One of my best friends jokes that I'm never just eating breakfast... I'm always brunching. There's just something so lovely and relaxing about brunch. In my mind, brunch is a leisurely morning where you've slept in, put on comfy clothes, turned on cheerful music, sipped a cappuccino or a matcha latte, and sat back and relaxed while a delicious spread came your way. What's better than that? Clearly I love enjoying a fabulous brunch, but I also love hosting one at my house! It's definitely the most stress-free meal to take on. It's casual, it doesn't require anything too fancy or complicated, and pretty much everything can be prepped ahead of time. Here are my tips for the next time you're hosting a brunch!
Any other last minute holiday shoppers out there? I can't believe Hanukkah starts in 4 days and Christmas is just over two weeks out ... time to do some serious shopping! While I'm struggling with what to get some of my family members, I do have a pretty solid list of gift ideas for your favorite foodie or the hostess with the mostess - either because I use some of these things constantly, or because they're on my holiday wish-list! Hopefully this will help you find the perfect gift for the cooks, bakers, and entertainers in your life, or you can send it along to your family members who are still shopping for YOU (hint, hint, wink, wink!)!
