4/19/2013 Why I'm Coocoo for Coconut OilLately, I can't get ENOUGH coconut oil in my life. I use it for cooking, for baking, I put a spoonful in smoothies, and I put it all over my skin . . . yes the same jar that I use in the kitchen, I lather all over my face . . . and it's amazing! I'm not sure why it's only recently become such a hot topic . . . I wish I had known about it years ago! I happen to love the flavor of coconut, but if you're not a huge fan, you can use the unflavored version and still get all the health benefits. Check out all these fabulous reasons to add the delicious oil to your life: > Helps lower cholesterol. Saturated fats have a bad rep, but in moderation they can be really healthy for you and your cholesterol levels! > Hello antioxidants! This oil is huge for boosting your immune system. > Increased metabolism and weight loss - yes please! A Dr. Oz study found that women who had 2 tbsp of this magic oil per day for 3 months had successfully shrunk their waistline! > It's THE BEST natural moisturizer for your skin and conditioning mask for your hair! Say goodbye to all those weird chemicals in your lotion and hello to beautiful skin and a shiny mane!
> Lowers stress - the scent can be very soothing and relaxing so add it to your bubble bath or use it as a massage oil! Try subbing coconut oil for olive oil next time you're sauteeing veggies, fish, chicken, and you'll be hooked! It's a solid when it's at room temperature, but as soon as it hits the heat, it melts perfectly for your cooking/baking needs. Or try baking with it like we did with these Gluten Free Double Chocolate Oatmeal Chunkers! Coconut oil benefits source
