Today we’re making smoothies! Ever since we received the new Vitamix (!!!) for our engagement, we have been completely and 100% addicted to smoothies. Fruity smoothies, green smoothies, “milkshake”-esque smoothies, you name it. I have a smoothie for breakfast almost every single weekday. This could definitely get boring if you make the same one everyday – I was in a smoothie rut a while ago and was having the same kale-banana protein shake every morning. I finally put the Vitamix to work, changed up my routine and got creative, and now I really look forward to my morning smoothies. Blending up a breakfast shake is the most efficient way to get all of your healthy fruits, veggies, and nutrients in your daily diet. I’m not talking about the Jamba Juice smoothies that I used to slurp down in high school before class - those are loaded with sugary fruit juices and huge scoops of sorbet (ahemm hello Caribbean Passion!). I’m talking about packing serious superfoods into your blender – chia seeds, flax seed oil, (tons and tons of) greens, plant-based protein, nuts, and high-antioxidant fruits. Mix it all up, sip it down, and you’ll be totally addicted to your new, fresh breakfast. Plus, you’ll start your day with SO much more energy than any other breakfast can provide!
So here's the scoop on some of my favorite smoothie products. Stock up on these goods and you'll be ready to whip up all the WeekNight Bite superfood smoothie recipes!
Sun Warrior Vegan Vanilla Protein.
Why: It’s a raw, vegan superfood protein for all fitness and health lovers! No scary chemicals or GMO’s, AND it tastes delicious. A great, clean way to add protein to your diet.
Shakeology all-in-one protein
Why: Tastes great and gives you all of your ingredients in one easy pack. Just add some fruit, almond milk, and ice and that’s all you need.
Vibrant Health Green Vibrance Powder
Why: You can get all your greens and more with one scoop of this powder. This gives me so much energy! Also provides essential enzymes and probiotics, boosts immunity, improves digestion, and provides anti-aging antioxidants (yes please!)
And here's the rest of the ingredients I ALWAYS keep on hand for my smoothies:
Chia seeds, dates, flax seeds or flax oil, frozen fruit, frozen kale, Navita’s Naturals Cacao Nibs, PB powder (same great PB taste but half the cals/fat!), cinnamon, almond butter, and unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
Let’s get into some smoooothies…
Note: All the recipes below call for 1 cup of almond milk - I prefer my smoothies a little thinner and use about 1 cup, but based on your thickness preference, use between 1/2 cup and 1 cup.

1 cup frozen kale
1/2 frozen banana
1 scoop Sunwarrior Vanilla Protein
1 scoop Green Vibrance powder
1 pitted date
